Furniture Wax Over Paint
When painting over wood laminate or another paint color that you don t want to show distressing may not be an option.
Furniture wax over paint. That said i like to take a 120 to 220 grit sandpaper and give it a light sanding before applying a new coat of paint. If the wax is 100 cured you can paint over it with chalk paint. In doing this it provides great depth and contrast. The solvents in oil paint will soften it leaving a tacky finish and wax prevents water based varnishes from bonding to the wood surface causing eventual peeling. Check that you haven t missed any sections.
I am not an expert by any means and while there are many other applications for both sealers but i am. Using a lint free cloth go over the waxed surface quite lightly in order to remove any. You are aiming to cover every bit of paint.
Most importantly you just want a thin layer. Being fully clear this wax for chalk paint product is capable of enhancing the look of wood without changing it beyond recognition. This will give your piece of furniture a darker more worn in patina.
